By using Opticomm’s advanced Daisy chain technology in conjunction with multiplexing, 128 composite video signals made be transmitted over a single fiber. Each of the 128 security cameras would be connected to an optical transmitter card via coax cable. Optiva would take groups of 8 video channels and combine them to a single fiber using Daisy chaining. Each group of 8 channels would be assigned it’s own optical wavelength. The 16 groups (8 channels per group) would then be connected to a multiplexing card (mux for short) where the Mux card takes the 16 groups and combines them all onto a single optical fiber. This combined optical signal can be transmitted up to 60 km (37.2 miles) where an identical receiving system (on the control room side) would convert the optical signal back into the original 128 video channels. The system configuration would be as follows.
