Description:
Emcore has an immediate opening for a contract to hire, full time senior FPGA Design engineer to support our current and future video audio transport solutions and video processing products. Position located in San Diego or Los Angeles, CA.

As a member of our HW/FW design team, you will work closely with other design engineers, as well as outside vendors, in all phases of the project including requirements definition, design, coding and testing.

• Use Verilog, C programming & Assembly to design & develop based FPGA circuitry.
• Extensive knowledge and proven experience in video interfaces.
• Continuous firmware development, RTL design, synthesis, modeling, analysis; validate full feature-set of the product line by writing custom verilog scripts.
• Interfacing SDRAMs, DDR-RAMs, FIFO controllers, DDS clocking modules into new and existing designs.
• Using 32 bit microcontroller cores such as Nios and 8 bit such as picoBlaze.
• Creating schematics design using Orcad and working closely with layout engineers.
• Creating BOM and working closely with document control to release products.
• Experience with design and debugging such as Chipscope, Reveal, VM5000, VM700, TG2000. Phabrix Eye oscilloscopes is a plus.
• Interact with customers and support new products.

Requirements:

• BS Degree required and MS or higher preferred.
• 5 years of related experience with work expertise in video circuitry designs.
• Depth knowledge SDI, HD, 3G-HD, DVI and HDMI interfaces is a must.
• Experience of Video design standards, such as SMPTE, JPEG and VESA required.
• Understanding high speed designs for EMI and signal integrity.
• Experience with Xilinx ISE , Altera Quartus and Lattice tools.
• Experience with Spartan 3,6, Vertex , Cyclone 4, Aria II GX and ISPLever
• Familiarity with Ethernet protocols, RS-232, I2C , SPDIF , RS-422/485, SPI , Voltage regulators and switching power supplies.
