GENERAL

The Opticomm Model TP-500 is a Frequency Modulated (FM), LED or Laser based, Full Duplex Telephone Line Extension or Intercom System, that is fully compatible with any telephone or PBX/KSU system. Features supported are: Dialtone, ringing, touch-tone, and pulse dialing methods. An incoming phone line can be extended to a remote telephone, or two telephones can be connected to each other. The latter provides a Full Duplex intercom system, that when one handset is lifted, the other rings and communication can begin. A normally open or normally closed contact is provided at the line side, which is useful for many PBX systems which require a contact closure or open to provide a dedicated line. Also available is an Electrical Phone to Audio converter. It takes a Phone-level signal in, and its output can be connected to any of our Audio Multiplexers, such as our Series DMX-800, or even a stereo system. Status indications on FM carrier detect, voltage, temperature, and optical levels are monitored via LEDs. Units transmit over one multimode fiber @ 865 and 1310nm; or over one singlemode fiber @ 1310 and 1550nm.

SYSTEM DESIGN

All of our units come as an Insert Card version. The cards can be inserted into our 18 slot, 19" Rack-mountable card cage (CC-18), or one of our smaller Desk-Top Card Racks (DTCR series). The Desk-Top Card Racks can handle two, four, or seven cards, allowing for greater flexibility and future expansion. They can sit on a flat surface as a larger stand alone unit, or can be surface mounted with the flanges provided. Each one of our card housings operates with an appropriate power supply. This is a switching power supply that is not only regulated, but has several in/out short circuit protections, as well as an input operating voltage of 87-264 V_AC.
