GENERAL

The Opticomm DS-200-TR is a Fiber Optic Fast Ethernet media converter. It is compatible with a vast array of LAN devices, and supports IEEE 802.3 FOIRL protocol. It can convert FDDI-UTP to fiber optics. Data rates of up to 100 Mbps are supported. Compliant to Fast Ethernet, the DS-200-TR allows users to attach Ethernet segments together, or to connect an Ethernet switching hub to a workstation. Distances of up to 2 km can be achieved without a bridge, and up to 50 km with a bridge. Our small compact units transmit over two multimode fibers @ 865 or 1310nm; or over two singlemode fibers @ 1310nm.

SYSTEM DESIGN

The DS-200-TR is equipped with 5 LED status indicators to assist in troubleshooting and operation. There are indicators for PWR, SYNC, LOCLB, ALARM, and SIG-DET. Dry contact alarms are optional. The DS-200-TR plugs into a Fast Ethernet compliant RJ-45 port on either a Workstation/Server or Hub. The DS-200-TR has many computer to LAN applications, or any Ethernet solution. The DS-200-TR is typically used to interconnect 100Mbps hubs or switching hubs to workstations at distances up to 50km. Dry contact alarms are optional for connection to remote network management systems. These units come in a stand alone or wall-mount version. Powered by an external 12 V_DC power supply.
