GENERAL

The Opticomm DS-150/XXX mini modem series is designed to link data communication equipment through fiber optic multimode or singlemode cables.
DS-150-T1/E1 supports standard T1 (1.544 Mb/s) AMI/B8ZS transmission that can be connected directly to any North American interface network system (*AT&T-T1). This unit also supports E1 (2.048 Mb/s) HDB3 European systems (G.703-E1).
DS-150/422 unit can be plugged into any EIA-422A protocol with a male DB37 pin connector, enabling it to transfer synchronous data at a rate up to 2.048 Mb/s with an internal or external clock.
DS-150/232 plugs directly into any EIA-232C interface protocol with a female DB25 pin connector, at Synch/Asynch data rates up to 38.4 Kb/s. Available 2 channels RS-232 Async 19.2 Kb/s.
DS-150/530 unit can be plugged into any EIA-422A protocol with a male DB25 pin connector, enabling it to transfer synchronous data at a rate up to 2.048 Mb/s with an internal or external clock.
DS-150/TTL plugs into any TTL interface protocol with a female DB9 pin connector, internally or externally clocked up to 3.5 Mb/s (optional).
DS-150/485 plugs into any EIA-485A Tri-state interface protocol with a DB25 pin connector, supporting asynchronous data rates up to 200-700 Kb/s.

SYSTEM DESIGN

The DS-150/XXX series utilizes digital "Square Wave" techniques which provide trouble free and adjustment free operation. These units are able to transmit data over any dedicated multimode (62.5/125) or single mode duplex fiber. This design allows for excellent long term performance, including a wide dynamic range with output levels unaffected by fiber attenuation variation.

The Opticomm DS-150/XXX stand alone series is powered by 12 V_DC (+24 V_DC, -4 V_DC optional). The DS-150/XXX (IC) Insert Card 19" rack mount units are powered by a single or a redundant 110/220 V_AC power supply in the 5000 system.
