STATUS NETWORK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND CONTROL MONITORING
GENERAL When the software package is installed on the host CPU, the DMX-700 polls each of the DMX-785 units through a firmware internally with a pre-determined address. Each of the DMX-785 firmware modules collects status and from the Dip-switch set codes when polled by the host. Connection from the host CPU to the DMX-785 units is made through one of four optical in-band RS-232 channels (RJ-11 interface connector). Several DMX-785 units can be daisy-chained together through these in-band RS-232 channels. The DMX-795 is an electrical distributor product that broadcasts and receives data from DMX-785 to the host CPU through the network. Each DMX-785 is polled at the user-defined intervals to verify that each unit functioning properly. Failures and alarms generated by the DMX-785 units can be displayed on the computer monitor and recorded in an event log. Each unit generates audible and visual alarms at the host site, the network manager can click the "Alarm" icon to zoom in on the status at any time. The DMX-700 runs on any IBM PC or PC-compatible computer that meets the minimum system capabilities as tested in the computer system requirements. A security key is provided to prevent unauthorized usage. The DMX-700 is a remarkable one-to-four channel fiber optic T1/E1 Multiplexer that is frequently used to link PBXs, Channel Banks, Customers Premise Equipment, and M13MUXs to DSX 1 Cross Connects.
